Appointments

When a patient first begins treatment, there are several appointments necessary to install braces. These are usually done with one or two week intervals between the appointments. Once braces are on, our patients then need to have regular adjustment appointments every 6 to 8 weeks. We are using very sophisticated appliances (such as body-heat activated wires) that work over an extended period of time, which allows the teeth to be moved in a gentler, safer manner and requires fewer office visits. This minimizes the number of school and work absences for patients and parents, without extending the overall treatment time.

We know that you do not want to be kept waiting and you will not find an office more committed to punctual treatment.

Understandably, most patients prefer not to miss work and parents prefer that their children do not miss school for their orthodontic appointments, but let us explain the situation every orthodontic office faces. Since almost all of our patients either work or attend school, our office hours would have to be from 3:30 to midnight to accommodate everyone. Such a schedule is obviously out of the question. Instead, we reserve before and after school time for progress check-ups and other short appointments to accommodate as many patients as possible during these popular times.

Longer appointments can be arranged during study period, lunch time or recess.

We have developed treatment and appointment systems that are very efficient for your convenience. Many of the routine adjustment appointments are very short.

One problem we sometimes have is that our patients are late for various reasons. When this happens, we cannot, in fairness to everyone else, squeeze late patients into the schedule. While every attempt will be made to reschedule late patients or those who have missed their appointment as soon as possible, our schedule is typically full several weeks in advance and a lengthy wait is often unavoidable. Every effort should be made to keep the original appointment and be on time.

Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated, for we cannot make exceptions for individuals. If, at times, it seems as though we are inflexible with our schedule, please remember that we are trying to be fair to everyone, offer excellent care and stay on time for your benefit.
